May 23: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha has said that a foreign employment office will be established in Bhairahawa by June 15, 2022. He said that if possible the office will be set up before the date and if not then by June 15.
Speaking at a meeting and discussion programme organised by Siddhartha Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rupendehi in Bhairahawa, Minister Shrestha requested for the office space. "The office in Bhairahawa would be different from that of Butwal and Kathmandu labour office. For this, we have to manage various things including designating staffs," he said.
He informed that there are labour offices in 11 different places in Nepal and that out of 857 foreign employment companies, 200 branches would be opened in Bhairahawa and necessary facilities would be provided to those companies by the ministry. He said that if Jazeera Airlines can operate well at Gautam Buddha International Airport, other airlines will be compelled to provide service there.
He said it is the responsibility of all Nepalis to run this airport which has been in operation since May 16. He has asked to establish medical centre for health check-ups of citizens going for foreign employment and Qatar visa centre in Bhairahawa.
Member of the House of Representatives Pramod Kumar Yadav urged Minister Shrestha to expedite the necessary units for the systematic operation of the airport. He said that a labour office should be set up in Bhairahawa.
Mayor of Siddharthanagar Municipality Istiaq Ahmed Khan said that the airlines should be given exemption to operate the airport in a systematic manner.
Mahendra Kumar Shrestha, central member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, demanded the establishment of a labour office in Bhairahawa to provide facilities to the youths going for foreign employment and to solve the problems of the industrialists.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of Siddhartha Hotel Association Chandra Prakash Shrestha demanded that all the procedures to be completed by the workers before going for foreign employment should be done from Bhairahawa. He demanded that the citizens going for foreign employment through this airport should get a work permit here rather than from Kathmandu. Tourism entrepreneur Sanjay Bajimay said that sending at least two tourists to Nepal by the Nepali citizens abroad would help in the development of the tourism sector. Rising Nepal
