Shree Airlines planes grounded after fire detection

Kathmandu, Mar. 11: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has grounded all aeroplanes of Shree Airlines. The decision comes a day after the engine of one of Shree’s planes flying from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa showed signs of fire.

The 9N-ANR aircraft carrying 78 passengers took off from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 9.38 am on Thursday. However, shortly after take-off, its fire detection system went off, signalling a possible fire in its right engine.

This forced the crew to return to Kathmandu and the plane landed safely at TIA at 9.55 am. Following the scare, CAAN decided on Friday to ground all of Shree’s aircraft until its technicians can confirm the safety of their engines.
