Women’s Rights delegation to visit The Netherlands

Kathmandu, 2080 Falgun 24 – A Women’s Rights Activists delegation will visit The Netherlands to share their experiences and to get new insights against Domestic Violence in Nepal.

According to the source, five Women’s Rights Activists including Manju Sharma  Member of the Women and Social Affairs Committee House of Representatives will visit The Netherlands from 03 – 08 Baisakh (AD: 15th – 20th April) and meet representatives from different Ministries and public bodies, including the Vice Chair  several Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, officials of the Ministry of Health, Education, Ministry of Foreign, representatives of non-governmental organizations and civil society working in the area of violence against women, among others.

Manju’s office said on Wednesday that it will be a valuable opportunity to meet with Dutch officials to discuss and share issues on the children and women of Nepal. It says during the meeting it will highlight the pertaining issue on domestic violence, Dowry custom, Chhaupadi, education, health, Civil and political rights, etc.

Women’s Rights Activists who represent and work for different organizations, will return to Nepal on 8 Baisakh on completion of the visit.

Nepal and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations on 2 April 1960. Ever since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Nepal and the Netherlands have been enjoying good, friendly and cordial relations. Nepal is a favourite tourism destination for the Dutch, especially for those interested in adventure tourism such mountaineering and trekking.
