12 people including police injured in Kalikot scuffle

Kalikot, Nov. 18: As many as 12 people have been injured in a scuffle between two groups at Mahawai Rural Municipality, Kalikot.

The disagreement between the song to be played by the DJ  amid dancing on the day of Bhaitika, a ceremony of receiving tika and blessing between brothers and sisters, was the reason for the squabble.

The police who went to the spot after receiving the news to take the crowd under control, were attacked by the youths, where, three policemen sustained injury.

According to the Police, a fight broke out initially at the home of DhanJaya Chaulagain at Ramni between DhanJaya, 33-year-old Ramita Chaulagain, 16-year-old Sobin Sunar and 29-year-old Mohan BK of ward-2, Raju Sunar, aged 29, of Ramna-7.

The police went to settle the argument and were attacked. The injured police have been identified as  Constable of Police Mahendra Shahi, Assistant Constable of Police Kishwor Rajawar and Police Constable Birendra Shahi.  

Arjun KC of District Police Station, Kalikot said that a team led by Constable of Police Mahendra Shahi of Padyaghat Police Station went to the spot after receiving the news about the fight. While the Police were taking into account the situation, they were attacked by the drunken youths.

Police have sustained an injury in a leg. It is said that after receiving news about the scuffle, an additional team of police from Chilkhaya along with bullets and weapons, from Padyaghat, Police Station was taken, to rescue the injured policeman.

All the injured are receiving treatment at the District Hospital, Kalikot. The injured are 45-year-old Dhan Jaya Chaulagain, 33-year-old Ramita Chaulagain and 22-year-old Kamal Chaulagain of Mahawai Rural Municipality-7. Likewise, Deep BK, aged 19, Srijan BK, aged 24, Ghaman BK, aged 25 and Karan Shahi, aged 27, of Mahawai Rural Municipality-2, Kalikot received injuries.

11 involved under Police Custody

11 involved in a crime arrest by Nepal Police. The arrested have been identified as 22-year-old Prakash Sunar, Rakesh Sunar, aged 18, of Mahawai Rural Municipality-7, Hari Kami, aged 24, Lokesh BK, aged 20, Prakash Kafle, aged 21, Mohan BK, aged 28, Birendra BK, aged 24, Agni Prasad Kafle aged 24, Bharat Sunar, aged 21, Nabin Sunar, aged 18 and Janak BK aged 19, of at Mahawai Rural Municipality-2.
